STOP THE VIOLENCE IN THE HOME
Today in the UK, 1 in 4 women can expect to experience violence in the home at some stage in her lifetime. In Germany, it’s 1 in 3. This rises to 40% in the Netherlands. 44% of women in Finland suffer violence in the home – only 0% of them report this to the police. In Thailand, a woman is physically hurt every hour. 60% of cases occur in the home. 38% of the Australian adult female population have experienced one or more incidents of physical or sexual violence since the age of 15. In Romania, 40% of domestic violence victims are children. In Norway, almost 90% of murders of women are committed by either a current or former partner. In Turkey, 58% of women suffer domestic violence. In France and Spain, between one and two women are killed every week by a current or former partner. One person dies every 12 and a half days in New Zealand as a result of domestic violence. In England and Wales, two women die at the hands of partners or ex-partners every week.
